CANAL FULTON, Ohio — Hill’s Supply Inc., 2366 Locust St., Canal Fulton, is celebrating its 30th year in business.

Owners Dave and Dolores Hill founded the company in June 1979 and employ 35 full-time and 5 part-time employees.

Expansion

Over the years, they have purchased the inventory/assets of eight small dealers; the last one in October 2008. They have four stores and are presently expanding more into western Ohio.

They offer DeLaval and Mueller products and several short lines.

All of their servicemen and salesmen who drive trucks have their commercial drivers licenses. Many have also added the hazmat.

The price of milk and the high prices of feed has affected their business. Many of their customers are having problems surviving.

Dealing with downturn

To deal with the economic downturn, Hill’s has put most of their servicemen on 35-40 hours a week and so far have not had any layoffs.

To deal with the recession, their salesmen are “beating the bushes” more and looking for smaller jobs, such as vacuum pumps, etc., to keep them busy.

The company trusts the recession will be on its way out and that the price of milk will be up so the dairymen can make ends meet.

Positive outlook

The company keeps a positive outlook on things, knows that problems don’t last forever and is doing what is necessary to survive.

Hill’s Supply Inc. is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and can be contacted at 330-854-5720 or e-mail hillsalfa@aol.com.
