Shur-Co manufactures the Original Shur-Lok rollup tarp system and 25 other tarping systems for agriculture, construction, and flatbed industries.
New products include the 3500 Series electric option for the Shur-Lok system, the strongest and smoothest electric roll tarp operation ever.
Fabric-covered Rushmore steel buildings provide fast, affordable floor space for your ag or multipurpose operation.
Available in widths up to 80 feet, Rushmore buildings are perfect for hay and grain storage, livestock, warehousing, machinery shed use and much more.
The business was started in 1954 by Ed Shorma in Wahpeton, N.D., as a shoe repair shop. In 1969, the company began making wooden cleats for swather belts and changed the name to Wahpeton Canvas Company.
In 1973, Shorma built a new building and employed 49 people.
In 1980s, the Shur-Lok Roll Tarp system was invented and patented. The business moved to Yankton, S.D., in 1992 and changed its name to Shur-Co.
There are now seven Shur-Co service centers across the U.S. with the corporate office and outlet store located in Yankton, S.D.
In 2008, the company diversified and expanded product lines with numerous engineered products like the 3500 Series electric system and Rushmore buildings.
Also noted in the past year are improvements to current products like the Shur-TrakII front-to-back cable tarp system.
In 2007, Shur-Co of Ohio was affected by the downturn in the construction market and continued rise in fuel costs.
Shur-Co continues to develop innovative product improvements and new product lines to stay competitive. The most recent addition is the line of Shur-Co marine boat lift canopies.
Shur-Co of Ohio has adjusted to the changing economy by currently focusing on agricultural products.
