Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
  • 1 1⁄2 pounds ground beef
  • 3⁄4 cup oatmeal
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
  • 1⁄8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Gravy:
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2 cups water

Directions:

  1. For meatballs, combine ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Shape into 1-inch balls.
  3. Slowly brown meatballs in butter.
  4. Shake pan frequently to brown evenly.
  5. Remove from pan.
  6. Blend flour into fat left in pan.
  7. Add bouillon cubes and water.
  8. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
  9. Heat meatballs in gravy.
  10. These freeze well.
