STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Holstein Convention Sale was held March 1 at Snider Agricultural Arena, in State College.
Bringing the sale-high bid of $19,000 was Golden-Rose Braxs Ripley-Et, sired by Regancrest S Braxton-Et out of Golden-Rose Atwood Ritzi EX-90. The Ripley Syndicate, Buhl, Idaho, bought the cow from consignor Golden-Rose Holsteins, Oxford, Pa.
Sheldon Martin, Sparta, Wis., paid $15,000 for Penn-England Gifian 9905-Et, sired by De-Su Bkm McCutchen 1174-Et, out of Penn-England Gifian, a VG-85. Penn England, Williamsburg, Pa., consigned the animal.
Ladys-Manor A RD Shanel-Et was the third-high seller, bringing $9,200 from Golden Oaks Farm, Wauconda, Ill. Ladys Manor LLC, Monkton, Md., was the consignor.
Also bringing a top bid was Mer-Wol Proserpine-Et, which sold for $6,000 to Brandon Ronk, Boone Mille, Va. She was consigned by Cessna Brothers, Clearville, Pa.
The sale totaled $326,000 on live cattle and choices, with a total of 83 lots sold. The sale average was $3,933.
Nine embryos sold to total $4,165, and average $463.
Matthew Lawrence and Chris Hill were the auctioneers; Horace Backus read the pedigrees.
