Entomologist Mark Goodman, will present the program, “When the Bugs Come Calling” at the next Fix It Wizard series program set for February 24, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Quaker Room. Registration is required online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or by calling the library at 330-332-0042. Attendance is open to the public and free of cost.

We’ve all found unwanted bugs in our home or apartment at some point. You may have wondered what they were, if they were dangerous or how to stop them in the first place. This presentation sheds some welcome light on common household insects and spiders. Find out what they are and how to recognize them. Learn which ones to be worried about, why they are there, and come away understanding the simple things you can do to prevent or treat the pesky little bugs in your life.

Mr. Goodman is the technical director and staff entomologist for Varment Guard Environmental Services Inc. He is currently finishing his Ph.D. in Entomology at the University of Kentucky, where he specialized in bed bugs. While he spends much of his time in pest control, he is an “equal opportunity entomologist,” and has always been interested in all bugs, whether they be pests, insects beneficial to humans or those that are just plain cool.
