Ohio may be a frontrunner in drone technology, thanks to one Akron man’s business, according to The Plain Dealer.

Event 38 Unmanned Systems, started by Jeff Taylor, manufactures drones for farmers to use in their fields.

Drones can be useful to farmers by providing aerial snapshots of fields, including thermal images that tell the temperature of plants, and also can save farmers from walking through their acres upon acres of crops.

From The Plain Dealer:

“The camera in Taylor’s drone can spy a diseased leaf from 400 feet, he notes. With that kind of clarity, farmers can spread fertilizers and pesticides more strategically, and practice greener ‘precision agriculture.’”
