Hand-painted Russian eggs, known as psyanky eggs, are on display at the Sutliff Museum in Warren, Ohio, through April. The museum, located on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, is free, open Wednesday through Saturday from 2-4 p.m.

Ashtabula Co. 4-H youth visited the county commissioners recently to participate in 4-H Week Proclamation Ceremony. Harley Buckley and Dawnelle Corron shared their Saddle Horse experiences; Greg Howard briefly explained his new role on the State 4-H Foundation Board; Craig Anderson came with his Pekin duck, and Megan Kelly came with her miniature horse.

2009 Ohio Ayrshire royalty were chosen recently at the annual meeting of the Ohio Ayrshire Breeders Association. Eileen Gress, Ohio Ayrshire queen, and Diane Gress, Ohio Ayrshire princess, are the new royalty. Both girls are daughters of Lisa and Joe Gress of Shreve, Ohio.

Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members, representatives of the Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh and Ronald McDonald gather around a food donations as part of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s Food Check-Out Day activities. Pennsylvania farmers raised $8,397 in food and cash donations for the Pittsburgh house.

Students from the Mohawk High School FFA chapter gave a presentation on making apple butter at the Lawrence County Conservation District annual awards lunch Jan. 8. The presentation included everything from getting the apples to canning the final product.

Rhonda Farmer, secretary of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau, presented all the fixings for a Christmas dinner to Fleming House residents Lori Zimmerly and Cristy Phillips. The gift included everything necessary to provide a holiday meal for all the residents of the house.

Black River FFA recently held its annual canned food drive. Classes competed to see which one could donate the most food and the Advanced Ag class came out on top. The chapter collected 358 total cans of food, which was donated to the West Salem food bank.
