Ohioan runner-up in International Auctioneer Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Andy White of Real Estate Showcase Auction Co., Ashland, Ohio, was first runner-up in the men’s division of the 2010 International Auctioneer Championship.

The contest featured 58 contestants from 29 states and Ireland and was held July 16 in Greensboro as part of the 61St National Auctioneers Association Conference and Show.

Contestants are judged on bid calling skill, stage presence, poise and industry knowledge.

Eli Detweiler Jr., CAI, of Detweilers Auction Service, Ruffin, N.C., and Kristine Fladeboe-Duininck, BAS, of Fladeboe Auctions, Spicer, Minn., won the 2010 International Auctioneer Championship.

In the women’s division the first runner-up was Camille Booker, CAI, CES, of Booker Auction Co., Eltopia, Wash.

The second runners-up in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively, were Paul McCartan of Grafe Auction Co., Spring Valley, Minn., and Wendy Lambert of Lambert Auction Co. Inc., Coppell, Texas.

Junior competition

In the International Junior Auctioneer Championship, Nolan Bell of SVELL Auction Group, Gray, Pa., took the championship trophy. The first and second runners-up, respectively, were Rachel Gingell of She $old It!, Lapeer, Mich., and Jon Ross Yaden, London, Ky.

Peter D. Gehres of United Country, Gryphon Realty and Auction Group, was a finalist in men’s division of

Earlier this year, Gehres won the 2010 Michigan Auctioneer Championship and in early August he will compete in the Ohio Bid Calling Contest at The Ohio State Fair.
