Greenhouse workshop includes one-day tour

COLUMBUS, Ohio – An alternatives in agriculture workshop and tour on specialty greenhouse production will be offered by the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association at Wilmington College Feb. 24-25.

The workshop, a part of the association’s Profitable Farm Workshop series, will be Feb. 24 in Kettering Hall on the Wilmington campus, beginning at 9 a.m.

On Feb. 25 the follow-up tour will go to travel to Clark and Greene counties to tour the Little Miami Flower Company’s cut flower operation and the Peach Mountain Organics greenhouse.

John Waymire, who founded the Little Miami Flower Co. in 1987, will talk at the workshop about how he got into the cut flower business and the opportunities as he sees them.

Waymire also farms 900 acres of corn and soybeans.

Other speakers at the workshop will be Dan Brentlinger, founder and CEO of CropKing, manufacturer and supplier of greenhouse and hydroponic equipment in Seville, Ohio; and July Lewis of Mountain Herbs and Everlastings in Manchester, Ohio, a supplier of fresh and dried herbs and everlasting plants.

Registration is $30 per person if postmarked by Feb. 17. It will be $40 at the door.
