Historical society holds meetings

WARREN, Ohio – The Northeast Ohio Region 4 meeting of the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums will be held at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library and the First Presbyterian Church in Warren April 27 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Trumbull County Historical Society is hosting this event, with participants from Trumbull, Mahoning, Portage, Geauga and Ashtabula counties.

Event schedule. The morning will begin with 9 a.m. registration followed by a brief business meeting. At 10:30 a.m., a panel discussion on “Ohio’s Bicentennial and Your Role in Creating Local Legacies” will be moderated by Theresa Seiders with the Poland Township Historical Society.

Panelists include Lori Gilk, Ohio Bicentennial Celebration Committee; John Fassnacht, Rootstown Bicentennial Celebration Committee; and Bill Lawson, Mahoning Valley Historical Society.

Regional meeting participants will then adjourn to the First Presbyterian Church for lunch and afternoon activities, including a workshop on special event planning presented by Bobbie Brown, Director of the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County.

Tour locations. Local attraction tours will be offered following the afternoon workshop, including Trumbull County Courthouse; First Presbyterian Church; Harriet Taylor Upton House; John Stark Edwards House; the Local History and Genealogy Center at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library; National Packard Museum; and Sutliff Museum.
