BRATTLEBORO, Vt. – Stephen R. Kerr, executive secretary and CEO of Holstein Association USA, submitted his resignation to the association board last week.

Kerr is credited for developing a plan for the association’s dairy business to lessen its reliance on traditional markets and increase opportunities in other dairy markets. He also inaugurated an e-commerce subsidiary.

He also restructured the association’s financial strategy and has eliminated the association’s debt.

President James “Bud” Leckie has scheduled a board meeting in three weeks to begin the search for a new CEO. Kerr has agreed to be available through April 2001.

Kerr, a Vermont native, is a former agricultural aide to Sen. James Jeffords and currently resides in Westminster, Vt.
