UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Extension will host a “Better Forage with Baleage and Haylage Workshop” on April 18 at 11 a.m. at the Brush Valley Township Fire Hall, 5540 PA-259, Homer City, Pennsylvania.
This educational program will discuss on how to produce high-quality fermented forages, including best management practices that influence baleage and haylage quality like planting, fertility, harvesting, storage and feedout management.
During this session, there will be a particular emphasis on ensiled grass and legume forage crops. Participants will get to review critical stages of forage fermentation and practical considerations that impact nutritional value and performance across livestock classes.
