Bingocize, hypertension programs offered at MYCAP Senior Center

YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County Public Health is offering Bingocize and Health Coaches for Hypertension classes at the MYCAP Senior Center, 64 Ridge Ave., Youngstown, starting in September.

Bingocize is a combination of fitness and health education that incorporates the game of bingo and is focused on helping sedentary adults aged 55 and over to fit physical activity into their lives, in a fun way, to help to reduce their risk of falling.

Bingocize classes begin Sept. 8, from 2-3 p.m. Classes meet twice per week on Tuesdays and Fridays for 10 weeks.

Health Coaches for Hypertension begins Sept. 9 from 1-2:30 p.m. Classes will meet once per week for 8 weeks on Wednesdays.

The aim of the Health Coaches for Hypertension Control program is to improve hypertension self-management through small group educational sessions for adults aged 55 and older and covers topics such as the basics of hypertension control, nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation, stress management and medication management.
