FSA connects farmers through its Transition Incentives Program

Hello again, friends:

It is the time of year when we find ourselves evaluating our lives, goals and successes. I know when we think of where we started out farming to now, it seems like it has been an unbelievable ride. We started out backgrounding calves and feeding hogs. Today, we operate a diversified farm; we raise hay, beans, corn, cattle, & sheep. We call it living the dream…

Some of us have neighbors and parents that are thinking of passing this same dream onto the next generation. The Farm Service Agency has come up with a service called TIP Net. This is a tool to connect retired or retiring land owners or operators with beginning or socially disadvantaged farmers or ranchers who are interested in the Transition Incentives program (TIP).

A few things to remember when getting familiarized with the site: There is a one-time registration process that should be completed by all users who want to post an ad online. Users just wishing to browse ads do NOT need to have an eAuthentication user ID.

The registration process is easy and only requires creating a user ID and password and confirming your email. From the eAuthentication page, click on the ‘Create an Accounts’ link, and follow the instructions to complete a request for Level 1 Access.

USDA provides TIP Net services in a secure online environment that protects participants’ privacy through stringent security measures.

That’s all for now,
FSA Andy
