The USDA has released "Food and Agricultural Policy: Taking Stock for the New Century." The 116-page document represents Bush's blueprint for future farm legislation, including the 2002 Farm Bill.

The 22nd annual Blue Ridge Pottery Show sponsored by the Blue Ridge Pottery Club will take place Oct. 4-6 on Main Street in Erwin, Tenn.

Small farm equipment exhibit has big presence at Farm Science Review
The Center for Small Farms, sponsored by "American Small Farm" magazine, made its Ohio debut at this year's Review.

Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary houses and rehabilitates animals that have been rescued by the Portage County Animal Protective League. Right now it is home to two horses, three ducks, three potbellied pigs, seven dogs, 10 rabbits, and 11 chickens, and is expecting 40 sheep and a 700-pound pig.

Jim Trotter, who recently retired from the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster, coordinates the field demonstrations at the annual Farm Science Review. He and his wife Norma were recognized for work since 1978.

Ohio Gov. Bob Taft, speaking at the Farm Science Review Sept. 18, pledged to push legislation that would help clear the way for a plant to be built in the Buckeye State.
