Antique auction features Cleveland items

AUSTINBURG, Ohio – Antiques enthusiasts who collect items associated with Cleveland, Ohio should mark Oct. 6 and 7 on their calendars as DeFina Auction’s annual fall antiques and fine arts sale.

Items from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Western Reserve Historical Society of Cleveland will be presented.

An extensive collection of Spode donated to the Museum of Natural History by British Petroleum will be on hand, as will an important McKinley flask from East Liverpool, Ohio. Items from the Western Reserve Historical Society include larger pieces such as a fine collection of 18th and 19th furniture, as well as smaller items, like a pair of Sevres urns.

The auction will also feature paintings, flasks, jewelry, paperweights and related objects. Also featured in the Sunday auction will be furniture, rugs, Victorian art glass and clocks.

Rounding out the auction will be items from the estate of Harry Carver, Adelaide (Margo) McClelland and Norma J. Cornell, as well as consignments from the Midwest, Pennsylvania and New York.

Preview hours are Oct. 4 from 4-8 p.m. and Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those interested in bidding on-line while the auction takes place should visit www.definaauctions.com and click on the appropriate link. Buyer’s premium for online bids will be 15 percent, with in-house being 10 percent.
