BURTON, Ohio — The 2009 Geauga County Junior Fair Dairy Show was held Sept. 4 at the Geauga County Fairgrounds. Bill Wachtel judged the dairy classes.

Showmanship placings were as follows:

Senior: First, Jake Lausin, second, Matthew Bruening.

Intermediate: First, Evan Parker, second, Rachel Shrock.

Junior: First, Zachary Retych, second, Becky Parker.

Beginner: First, Lauren Parker, second, Jordyn Brezo, third, Lucas Kuehn.

Novice: First, Audrey Buterbaugh, second, Dakota Ward, third, Brenna Truax, fourth, Michael Rendlesham.

The 2009 Showman of Showmen was Jake Lausin.

Dairy Buds were Anthony Brezo, Matthew Burton, Max Retych and Colby Turon, who received trophies for their dairy 4-H participation.

Breed class results were as follows:

Holstein spring heifer calf: First, Lauren Parker, second, Bobby Fowler.

Brown Swiss spring heifer calf: First, Jordyn Brezo, second, Shelly Loze.

Holstein winter heifer calf: First, Lucas Kuehn, second, Michael Depner.

Jersey winter heifer calf: First, Ross McKinstry.

Holstein fall heifer calf: First, Becky Parker, second, Steve Turon.

Jersey fall heifer calf: First, Ross McKinstry.

Holstein summer yearling heifer: First, Brie Carr, second, Emma Niehus.

Guernsey summer yearling heifer: First, Brie Carr.

Brown Swiss summer yearling heifer: First, Shelly Loze, second, Michael Rendlesham.

Junior grand champion Jersey was Brie Carr’s winter yearling heifer and reserve junior champion Jersey was Ross McKinstry’s winter heifer calf.

Junior grand champion Guernsey was Brie Carr’s summer yearling heifer.

Junior grand champion Brown Swiss was Shelly Loze’s summer yearling heifer and reserve junior champion Brown Swiss was Rachel Shrock’s fall yearling heifer.

Dairy baskets

The clubs sold their dairy baskets Sept. 5. Robert Evans, Cherokee Demolition and Stanley Petersen Attorneys purchased the baskets.
