SULLIVAN, Ohio — The Black River FFA chapter hosted a food tent at the Warrior Dash Aug. 20-21. More than 10,000 people participated in the event.

FFA members who participated included: Sierra Sturgill, Meghan Gallagher, Collin Burnett, John Bricker and Hailee Baker.

WEST SALEM, Ohio — The Northwestern FFA chapter is set to receive $3,000 from DuPont Pioneer donated toward the Greenhouse Construction Project as part of the DuPont Pioneer sponsorship program.

Pioneer makes contributions to community-based organizations on behalf of the business and employees. Consideration for outreach grants is given to communities where Pioneer sales representatives, DuPont Pioneer employees and customers live and work.

MILLERSBURG, Ohio — The following West Holmes FFA members received first place in their proficiencies at state convention in May and then qualified for national evaluation: Elise Neville, Gabe Armstrong, and Michael Kline.

Their proficiency applications went through district, regional, state and national levels to be evaluated. They must receive first place at the state level to compete at nationals.

In the grain placement proficiency, Michael partakes in responsibilities like spring tillage, grain cart operating, soil sampling, and regular maintenance on equipment at Loder Farms.

In the forage proficiency, Gabe worked at Acker Farms and raised his own orchard grass hay. They help with mowing, tedding, raking, baling and fertilization.

Elise worked as an intern at the OARDC, researching soil and water characteristics and studying how to adjust plant growth. Kline and Armstrong received gold ratings and Elise Neville received a bronze rating at the national level.

The chapter will also have four American Degree recipients at this year’s National FFA Convention. Members Elise Neville, Chris Sprang, Morgan Hoxworth, and Shyann Kick will receive their degrees Oct. 22 in Louisville.

PALMYRA, Ohio — The Southeast FFA chapter had two booths at the Randolph Fair featuring the new officer team and projects done by FFA members.

FFA members participated in the Portage County Randolph Fair 4-H programs as well as the Ohio State Fair, award winners included: Neil Griffith, Baylee Booth, Michael Kline, Amber Zavara Ashley Hench, Danielle Whitted, Denise Klug, Alexis Bixler, Shelby Morehead and Emily Jones.

The Southeast Chapter also welcomes 35 Greenhand FFA members this year.
