SULLIVAN, Ohio — The trees along the cross country path and youth cheerleading practice fields at Black River High School were infested with Emerald Ash Borer.

The Black River FFA chapter helped improve the school grounds by cutting and splitting over 80 trees and delivering over 19 truckloads of firewood to community members Nov. 13.

   

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — West Muskingum FFA participated in the sub-district parliamentary procedure competition Nov. 17, at Buckeye Trail High School. w

The advanced parliamentary procedure team placed first with team members Madisyn Farus, Alexis Jenkins, Jena Maxwell, Jacob Stemm, Joshua Stemm and Olivia Corder. The will compete in the district contest Nov. 29.

The novice team placed third and included team members Ashley Miller, Seth Brandfass, Madison Curtis, Cayci Marcum, Brooklynn Cornwell, Wyatt Head and Cody Darner.

   

PALMYRA, Ohio — The Southeast FFA chapter held a fall party for all members Nov. 16. The chapter participated in parliamentary procedure and job interview CDE’s.

The parliamentary procedure team placed third with team members Ashley Hench, Danielle Whitted, Amber Zavara, Shawnee Wilt, Seth Johnson, and Michael Kline. Job interview participants were Brooke Tessean, who placed second; Amber Zavara, who placed fourth; and Seth Johnson, who placed fifth.

The chapter donated $1,000 to the Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum to help fund the New Discovery Center.

   

LOUDONVILLE, Ohio — Loudonville FFA competed in the district food science contest at Mapleton High School, Nov. 15. Team members included Samantha Augustine, Leah Carnegie, Madalyn Sponsler, and Mya Switzer.

Carnegie placed fourth overall and first on the team, Augustine was second on the team, Sponsler was third and Switzer was fourth.

The team placed third in the competition, with Hillsdale taking first and Plymouth placing second.

   

BERLIN, Ohio — For the second year, Hiland FFA participated in the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Paint-A-Plow contest. This year’s theme: Heroes and #Hashtags.

Hiland members chose a batman theme painting a city on one end of the plow and a spotlight on the other with the ODOT logo in the center of the spotlight. The words “#ODOTready” and “#KeepingTheStreetsSafe” were also included.

FFA members who participated were: Kortney Schlabach, Hayleigh Scheufler, Sheila Troyer, Tallie Troyer, Ben Winterbourne, Cheryl Yoder, and Diane Yoder.

Hiland FFA members traveled to Columbus for an Ohio State hockey game. An Ohio State representative talked with students about how to apply for Ohio State and what majors are offered.

   

GNADENHUTTEN, Ohio — Indian Valley FFA members, Tanner Bardall, Luke Durbin, Sarah Fowler, and Dalton Sprowl, were awarded the American FFA Degree at the National FFA Convention this year.

   

SALINEVILLE, Ohio — Southern Local FFA members, Cierra Homic and Laughlin Cole, were awarded the American FFA Degree at the National FFA Convention this year.

   

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — The Hillsdale FFA chapter held its annual Greenhand and Chapter Degree Ceremony Nov. 16, at Hillsdale High School.

Chapter degree recipients were: Alena Arnold, Colton Harper, Braxton Slagle, Collin Bachmann, Jadyne Hawks, Garrett Smith, Blayne Bartter, Austin Johnson, CJ Tafur, Alex Becker, Grace Keets, Hannah Way, Addelynn Bickel, Tim Krebs, Peyton Young, Lexi Courtney, Felictiy Miller, Garrett Crites, Molly Moffett, Alyssa Crytzer, Chandler Petush, Madison Eaton, Alyssa Piper, Mike Garn, Zach Raudebaugh, Aubriana Gibson, Ben Rogers, Garrett Goodwin, and Conner Rook.

Ohio FFA State Sentinel Johnathon Cottingim gave a speech to members and guests and the evening concluded with a pie auction fundraiser.
