‘Smacking good’

Auctioneer John Kiko, who calls bids at the Portage County Fair livestock auction, got a bit more than he bargained for during last week’s junior fair steer sale. Kiko was the top vote-getter in the junior fair board’s ‘Kiss a Cow’ fundraiser and got to pucker up with Morgan Moore’s champion steer to kick off the beef sale. Kiko, who also had to smear on pink lipstick before planting one on the steer, told the crowd the steer was “smacking good” as bidders climbed to a new record price.
Runner-up in the contest, Bob Golic, had to kiss the steer’s rump. Golic is a former Cleveland Browns linebacker and starred on Saved by the Bell. He’s now a radio personality in Akron.
