Ingredients:
- 5 1/2 lbs. soft, sweet apples, Cored and chopped into small pieces, about ¼ inch
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ⅛ tsp. ground cloves
- 1 ½ tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
- Slice apples into small pieces and dispose of cores; no peeling necessary. Place apples in a large slow cooker.
- In a medium-sized bowl, stir together sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and cloves until well-combined. Pour sugar mixture over apple pieces and stir until well combined. Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 10 hours.
- Next, use an immersion blender to puree apples until smooth and no chunks remain. Add vanilla extract.
- Turn slow cooker to low heat and cook another 2 hours uncovered, stirring occasionally.
- Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container up to two weeks.
