Ag Hall of Fame nominees sought

LISBON, Ohio – Nominations are being accepted for this year’s class of inductees into the Columbiana County Agricultural Hall of Fame.

The hall of fame is coordinated by the Columbiana County Agricultural Society and the Columbiana County Historical Society.

Induction ceremonies are held in conjunction with the Columbiana County Fair, which runs this year from July 28-Aug. 3. Portraits of the hall of fame members are installed in the fairgrounds’ commercial building.

Contributions. The hall of fame recognizes county citizens who have made significant contributions to the advancement of agriculture.

Five men have been inducted in each of the past four years.

Nominations. Organizers are now accepting nominees for this year’s hall of fame class. To be eligible, nominees must have made their living farming in the county, have made significant contributions to the advancement of agriculture, and have been good citizens and active community members.

Each year, one of the five has been active in an allied industry, such as extension or journalism.

To date, the award has been made posthumously.
