MILLERSBURG, Ohio — The West Holmes FFA sent members Feb. 9 to compete at district job interview contest at Buckeye Career Center. Four members participated in four divisions.

In division I Shyann Kick placed first, in division II Mandy Taylor placed first, in division III Audrey Ivers placed third, and in division IV Casey Schlauch placed fourth.

Shyann and Mandy will go on to compete at state March 3.

The West Holmes FFA had members compete in sub-district speaking Feb. 16. Huck Hay placed thirrd in the creed contest and will move on to compete at the district contest.

Madee Brewer placed first in the beginning prepared category and will move on to districts. Elizabeth Overholt placed first in the prepared contest and will go on to districts.

Derek Reutter competed in the extemporaneous speaking category and placed first. He will also be competing in the district contest.

The West Holmes FFA competed Feb. 21 at district agriculture sales competition, which was also held at West Holmes. At the contest the team placed first, and in individual three members made the top five. These members were; Madee Brewer placed first, Marshall Overholt second, Casey Schlauch fifth. The team will go on to compete at state Ag Sales March 3.

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Marlington FFA forestry team traveled to Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio for the State FFA career development event.

Marlington placed 26th in the contest. The team was led by high scorer, senior, Rebecca Faverty. Other team members were juniors Haley Faverty, Ashley Foster and Brittany Johnson.

On Oct. 12 during the Stark County Farm Tou the Marlington FFA chapter hosted FFA kiddie tractor races at DalLama Acres in East Canton, Ohio.

FFA members arrived to help direct cars parking in the morning. During the day FFA members worked with the youngsters and let them race two pedal tractors. More than 30 kids raced the tractors at the event.

WOOSTER, Ohio — The Triway FFA chapter held a meeting Feb. 20. Before the meeting, members tie-dyed T-shirts for FFA week. Triway FFA received a thank you letter from Camp Ohio for donating money for their new nature center. The chapter voted to participate in the FFA Challenge last meeting. Mackenzie Hyatt spoke about attending John Deere Days. Christie Alysworth spoke about the various FFA scholarships available.

The Job Interview contest was last week. Julie Gress placed third in the freshman division, Kayla Hayhurst placed second in the sophomore category and Diane Gress placed third in the junior category.

SMITHVILLE, Ohio — Six members of the Smithville FFA chapter competed in the district 3 job interview and ag sales career development event at Northwestern High School Feb. 16. Kelsey Hershberger placed fourth in the freshman division, and Mariana Cantera placed first in the first-year member division. Cantera will represent the Smithville FFA chapter March 3 at the state contest. The ag sales team consisted of Ellie Kauffman, Breanne Welty, Emily Henes and Harold Kennedy. The team placed third at the district contest.
