Funding available to eligible Pa. farmers

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Plan Grant Implementation Program, will be accepting applications until Dec. 29.

This program, coordinated by the Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission, makes funding available to livestock or poultry farmers interested in implementing their approved nutrient management plans. Eligible farmers can receive up to $75,000 toward the implementation of best management practices included in those plans.

To be eligible for this program a producer must:

Be the owner of a livestock or poultry operation existing on or before Oct. 1, 1997.

Have an approved nutrient management plan that meets the requirements of PA Act 6.

Demonstrate that they will be financially distressed by the implementation of the practice without a grant and that repayment of a loan is unlikely.

Not have begun construction of the Best Management Practice funded by this grant.

Application forms and assistance with completing the forms are available at any Pa. conservation district office.
