Hocking College hosts annual Ohio smoke meat and barbecue festival

NELSONVILLE, Ohio – Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, the sixth annual Smoked Meat and Barbecue Festival pits Ohio’s best outdoor cooks against each other in judged competition.

The festival opens at 9 a.m. Oct. 19 and has live music and craft vendors scheduled until it closes at 5 p.m. Judging begins at noon. The event will be held in Nelsonville, Ohio.

Categories include beef brisket, chicken, pork, pork ribs, sauce and dessert. The public is welcome to watch the state cook-off and sample the fixings. Admission is free. Call 740-753-3591 for more information.
