Lots of green reuses vacant land in Idora neighborhood

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation broke ground on Lots of Green in the Idora neighborhood in early June. The project seeks to reuse over 120 parcels of abandoned land through the creation of expanded sideyards for existing homeowners, an urban farm and orchards, community gardens, expansion of Mill Creek MetroParks boundaries, passive green space based on the Philadelphia green model and the introduction of native plants and rain gardens. A Vacant Land ReUse Team of neighborhood residents will assist in the maintenance of the lots.
