ARCHBOLD, Ohio – A holiday event unlike any other is planned for four days at Historic Sauder Village.

Now in its fourth year, A Season of the Spirit: Christmas at Sauder Village returns Nov. 23, 24, 30 and Dec. 1.

About the program. This program offers guests of all ages the chance to ‘step back in time’ to revisit a season where faith and family were central to everyday life.

The village will have the bright lights, animated characters and the glitz and glamour. Visitors can really see how the holiday celebrations have developed over time.

The story of how holiday celebrations evolved is traced through the activities and special tours in the selected historic buildings that will be open.

Children’s activities. Children of all ages also get to actively participate in the celebrations as well. They can cut out cookies, help sort mail in the depot, enjoy a traditional Christmas Eve service complete with a gift of an orange in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, churn butter, crack nuts, try out a straw tick bed and string popcorn.

There will also be historic cooking demonstrations in the homes with recipe cards available. The museum building will be opened to wander through and, for a small additional fee, horse-drawn carriage rides will be available.

Music by local choirs and schools add to the festivity and area ministers will be leading the regularly scheduled church services.

Hours for the event are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. The cost for this self-guided tour is $4.25 for adults, $3.75 for seniors and $2.25 for children 6-16.
