WEST SALEM, Ohio —On Dec. 3, members of the Northwestern FFA competed in the District 3 parliamentary procedure contest held at Northwestern High School.

For the varsity team, Kaci Way (co-chair), Rachelle Howman (co-chair), Sarah Maximovich (member), Katie Stull (treasurer), Emily Flinn (reporter), Katie Weber (secretary), Victoria Devore (adviser), and Phil Eberly (sentinel) competed. Adam Miley also competed as an alternate. The team placed first.

The novice team of Amaya White (co-chair), Cody Tegtmeier (co-chair), Emily Finley (secretary), David Miley (sentinel), Christie Franks (adviser), Rae Rempher (treasurer), Kennedy Hoffer (reporter), Austen Wood (member), and Jessie Bair (alternate) also placed first.

Both teams will advance to the state contest Dec. 20 at The Ohio State University in Columbus.

BELLEVUE, Ohio — On Nov. 19, the Bellevue FFA members participated in the district job interview contest at the Bellevue High School.

Freshman Harmen Hossler placed eighth in his division. Sophomore Elizabeth Harper won her division, qualifying her to attend the next competition.

Brittany Weller, a junior, also won her division and will be moving on to the state competition.

Tabby Hossler, a senior, placed fourth in her division.

OBERLIN, Ohio — The Firelands FFA coordinated a Harvest for America food drive, with special contributions from the first and ninth period animal science & technology classes and the ffa citizenship committee.

The entire school contributed 300 pounds of food, which were donated to Harvest for Hunger at Second Harvest in Lorain.

An additional 3,500 pounds of food was donated to South Amherst United Methodist Church, which houses the food distribution pantry for our school district. About 300 people from about 100 families in the Firelands district will directly benefit from the donation.

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — On Dec. 2, the Hillsdale FFA parliamentary procedure teams competed at the sub-district level, located at Hillsdale High School.

Both the junior and senior teams won their divisions.

Senior team members included: Bethany Heiby, Keayla Harr, Ben Raudebaugh, Shelbi Long, Adrianne McPhillips, Sarah Lifer, Megan Poynter, Amanda Garn, Ethan Garber, Joey Nebergall.

Junior team members were: Nathan Bigley, Damon McCoy, Sydney Long, Kendal Meyer, and William Yeater; Taylor Shopvell, Maryellene Bliss, Taylor Rebman and Libby Holler.

SALINEVILLE, Ohio — Southern Local FFA members participated in both the sub-district parliamentary procedure contest and the district job interview contest Nov. 25 at Triway High School.

Students who participated in the parliamentary procedure contest included Laughlin Cole, Marcus Walter, Bethann Callahan, Gabe Lattimer, Natalie May, Garrett Coil, Luke Frischkorn and Becca Farley. Job interview participants included Natosha Riggs and Jerred Gfeller.

The chapter also wrapped up its annual fruit and sausage sale.

BELOIT, Ohio — West Branch FFA had two members attend the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

Mike Douglas, a 2013 graduate of West Branch, received his American Degree Nov. 1. The American Degree is the highest award you can receive in FFA.

Douglas is currently enrolled at Kent State pursuing his degree in business. He is a part-time employee of Cope Farm Equipment and works on the family farm.
