WARREN, Ohio – Trumbull County Historical Society president Wendell Lauth will lecture April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren on “The Civil War and Trumbull County.

Few periods in American history match the significance of the Civil War and the public’s continuing interest in the events and locales that affected the lives of so many young Americans.

Three out of every five Ohio men between the 18 and 45 served in military units during the war.

Lauth will review the participation of Trumbull County natives in major military operations, as well as lesser known battles and skirmishes from 1861 to 1865. Civilian activities on the home front will also be discussed.

The lecture unfolds through the use of black and white vintage photographs, color images of battlefield sites and monuments, maps, local newspaper reporting, soldiers’ journals and physicians’ accounts.
