Merry Christmas to all

On December 30, 1982, I began writing the weekly column, Think About It in the Farm and Dairy newspaper. My first article was titled, Optimism.

I remember quoting Helen Keller. She said, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows.” For the last 31 years, I have tried every week to do just that as I write the column, Think About It.

God has been very good to me these past 31 years. I want to say thank you to all my readers for your kind words of encouragement over the years. It has been a real pleasure to meet many of you in person at the county fairs, Hartville Market Place and various family farm days and conferences.

It is my prayer that something I have written has been a help to you and your family or a blessing in some way. Your cards, letters and even phone calls have been a joy to me to receive. Thank you so much for your kindness and friendship.

My wife Jan, and I have counted it a real privilege to share in some way our Savior, Jesus Christ with you and your family. My daughter, Karen McLaughlin, from Salem, Ohio, types all my columns from week to week. I appreciate so much her work and commitment.

Thanks also to the Farm and Dairy staff for keeping Think About It coming to your home or place of business every week. Jan and I, along with my daughter, Karen, thank you for reading this column.

Light of the world so clear and bright

Enter our homes this Christmas night;

Re-light our souls so tenderly,

That we may grow to be like Thee.
