Salem Public Library and Burchfield Homestead Museum are sponsoring a free art class for children in grades 1 through 4 on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 1 through 2 p.m. at the museum located at 867 East Fourth Street, Salem, Ohio.
Art teacher Barbara Marra will present a lesson about painting sunflowers and other plants that grow in the landscaped garden at the museum. The program will also briefly explain artist Charles Burchfield’s technique and unique depictions of Salem in the 20th century.
Although the class is free, advance registration is required. Reserve a spot for your child by completing the online form at www.salem.lib.oh.us or by calling the library at . for assistance.
Children should bring a paint shirt. Other supplies will be provided.
Children and the adults accompanying them will be encouraged to explore the Charles Burchfield Homestead Museum which was the home of Charles Burchfield, a world-famous watercolor artist.
The museum will be open throughout the summer from 1-4 pm. Saturdays and Sundays. It is open on other days by appointment.
