YOUNGSTOWN — Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County and Hope for Newport will host an Urban Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop on April 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Hope for Newport, 420 Clearmont Drive, Youngstown.
Attendees will learn essential pruning techniques to encourage healthy growth, increase fruit production and extend the life of fruit trees. The clinic will feature instruction and live demonstrations by Chevy Motswaledi, an OSU Extension educator, who will showcase easy-to-follow pruning methods. Topics will include an introduction to pruning basics and essential tools, proper techniques for pruning newly planted fruit trees, strategies for maintaining established fruit trees and a question and answer session.
The class is for both beginners and experienced gardeners who want to improve the health of their fruit trees. The event is free and open to the public.
