The past decade has witnessed amazing scientific and medical advances that permit many diseases and conditions to be diagnosed earlier and to be treated more effectively, with end result of longer high-quality life for individuals. For this reason it is intriguing to know that about 40% of the U.S. population is using complementary and alternative therapies.

The September 9th Wellness Wednesday program to be presented by Dr. Haidy Kamel, Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Cuyahoga Community College, will focus on various forms of complementary practices and therapies and the reason for using them. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Quaker Room at 821 E. State St., Salem, Ohio.

Registration is recommended online at www.salem.lib.oh.us for this event that is open to the public and free of cost to attend. For more information and assistance with registration contact the library at 330-332-0042.

Wellness Wednesdays at Salem Public Library take place beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month and feature a variety of health and wellness topics.
