NORTH CANTON, Ohio – A 165-year-old primitive furnished clapboard home, a newly built log home, and a colonial home refurbished in Williamsburg style highlight this year’s annual holiday home tour sponsored by the North Canton Heritage Society.
The fund raiser will be Dec. 3, from 1 to 5 p.m.
This is the third season for this event.
Antique and restoration consultant, Nancy Kalin, who has helped Doug and Robyn Cordier with their early 1800s restoration, will be at the Diamond Street tour site to assist the Cordiers.
Kalin’s 1700 New England saltbox style home, which highlighted the 1999 tour, drew visitors from throughout northeast Ohio.
The Cordier home, at 1652 Diamond Street, N.E., is an 1824 clapboard home moved from Tallmadege and reconstructed on its present site in 1990. The decor is all authentic to the early 1800 home. This home has been featured in Country Living magazine.
Also on the tour will be:
* The Ed and Diane Seeton home at 4634 Frazer Ave., N.W. The two-story brick colonial home has been refurbished in traditional Williamsburg style.
Special features are a Delft collection on the dining room hunt board, and the colonial style landscaping, complete with pond and waterfalls.
* The Steve and Lisa Gregory home at 8341 W. Wadora Circle, N.W.. The 3,000 square foot log home was built on six acres of rolling farmland. A long family history is evident in the furnishings.
* The North Canton Heritage Society at 200 Charlotte Street, N.W. Suite 102. The Society occupies the middle section of the first floor of the three-story brick building that was built as North Canton High School in 1929.
Heritage displays focus on New Berlin and North Canton. Refreshments will be served at this site.
If those taking the tour save the Heritage Society for last, they will also be able to walk to the town square for the community’s annual Christmas sing at 6 p.m.
Tickets for the Home Tour are $10 each, and are available at the Heritage Society Office, at The Little Nostalgia shop, at tour homes, and from Heritage Society trustees.
