SALEM, Ohio – Individuals supporting Geauga County 4-H’ers Lindsey and Christen Ferguson are circulating an online petition, hoping enough electronic signatures will encourage the Geauga County fair board to change its mind.
The Fergusons have been told by the Geauga County fair board they must write letters of apology to the fair board and to each beef club member for painting the words “drug free” on their steers during weigh-in last month. If they don’t, the Fergusons will be disqualified from showing in the 2008 fair.
The Fergusons were protesting the board’s handling of the drug tampering incident involving last year’s grand champion steer, raised by Clark Adams (“Steer exhibitor’s sister admits role in livestock tampering,” Jan. 10, 2008).
The petition is online at www.ipetitions.com, keyword search “gcdrugfreesteers.”
