Mercer County drive-it-yourself tour features seven stops

MERCER, Pa. – The Mercer County Country Tour, featuring seven stops in the northeastern part of the county, will be Sept. 21 and 22.

The drive-it-yourself tour features stops representative of the agriculture industry and rural community of Mercer County.

Participants in the free tour can make the stops in any order and stay for as little or long a time as desired.

Tour hours are 1-6:30 p.m.

Map. A self-guiding tour map with descriptions and driving directions is available at many area agriculture businesses, libraries and at the Mercer County Cooperative Extension office, Route 19, north of Mercer.

Stops include visits to Fairview Cheese, Pete and Elaine Leise Dairy Farm, Chris and Sandy Pilgram grain and livestock farm, Pilgram Corn Maze, all in the Fredonia area; a food and restroom stop at Clarks Mills United Methodist Church, Wilhelm Winery, Hadley and Maurice K. Goddard State Park, Sandy Lake.

Brochures. Anyone not obtaining a brochure may begin the tour by traveling north from Mercer on Route 19. Brochures will be placed at the front door of the extension office, 1.5 miles north of Mercer on Route 19.

Fairview Cheese is 7.7 miles north of Mercer on Route 19.

Directions to additional stops will be available there as well as at any of the other stops.
