AVMA President, Dr. Joe Kinnarney, examined Santa’s team of nine reindeer before their big flight Dec. 24, according to AVMA. He has the honor of being the “official veterinarian of the North Pole.”

The reindeer were examined for injuries and diseases, as well as a check on vaccination records. In addition, the reindeer are issued health certificates, which allows them to travel between states and countries.
