AgBiz professionals offer management training to experienced farmers

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — It’s never been more important to stay educated on issues affecting your farm operation. Farmers now have a new educational program available to help them ensure that their farm businesses are viable today and for many years to come.

AgBiz Professionals is a learning series that focuses on teaching business management skills to established farmers.

Applying concepts

The three modules within AgBiz Professionals take a hands-on approach, helping agricultural business owners and operators learn and apply concepts to their individual farm operations.

The program is conducted in live seminar format with multiple locations linked by videoconference. The three sessions outlined below are the foundation modules for the AgBiz Professionals program. After successful completion of these three modules, AgBiz Professionals participants will have the opportunity to take additional modules in future years on specific topics.

AgBiz Professionals workshop schedule:

• 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Nov. 18, Leading and communicating;

• 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Jan. 30, 2012, Financial leadership;

• 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. March 15, 2012, Marketing for tomorrow.

Workshop locations will include AgChoice Farm Credit offices in Chambersburg, Lewisburg, Lewistown and Towanda and Penn State Extension offices in Lancaster, Mercer and Somerset.

The program is $100 per module or $250 for all three modules. Registration covers up to two people from a farm business.
