ALBANY, Ohio — On Nov. 19, the Alexander FFA chapter attended and competed in the sub district Parliamentary Procedure CDE.

The Alexander team consisted of Kim Holcomb-president, Jacob Smith-vice president, Jessie Sinclair-secretary, Noelle Eveland-treasurer, Whitney Mullins-reporter, Ethan Syaers-student adviser, Ben Smith-sentinel, and Lyman Kennedy, Adam Turner and Courtney Keefer as members.

The competition was held at the Federal Hocking High School.

FFA teams that attended the event include Alexander, River Valley, Meigs, Galia, Southern and Symmes-Valley.

The Alexander team received third place and moved on to the district competition Dec. 1.

On Nov. 20, the Alexander FFA chapter attended the annual Barnyard Olympics at the River Valley Middle School.

WEST SALEM, Ohio — Members of the Northwestern FFA participated in the County Parliamentary Procedure Competition at Triway High School Nov. 24.

Members of the Ag. Science I classes competed at the junior varsity level and older members and officers competed at the varsity level.

The junior varsity teams consisted of Ashley Cromer, Taylor Mowrer, Sarah Burgett, Ben Miller, John Eberly, Alex Hudson, Destiny Luther, Mara Cline, Hannah Hules, Sage Kapronica and Kandis Starkey. The team placed third in the competition.

The varsity team consisted of Karly Berry, Jessica Wellert, Zach Hottel, Zane Dilyard, Travis Clark, Sabrina Johnson, Tessa Hershey, Sarhra Flinn, Chris Thomas and Katryna Ousley.

The team placed first and will be advancing to the district competition at Northwestern High School Dec. 7.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Members of the Zane Trace FFA chapter took top team honors in the District 7 Food Science Career Development Event held Nov. 17 at Zane Trace High School.

Fifteen members participated in the contest, which included teams from eight other schools in District 7. The top four individuals that made up the team score will now move on to compete in the state food science CDE to be held at Ohio State University Dec. 5.

Top individuals who will compete for Zane Trace are Sarah Cox, Emily Wright, Hannah McDowell and Chelsi Hempstead.

The club participated in the annual fruit sale fundraiser. This year, the members raised $30,350 to put toward their many activities.

Twenty members sold more than $500 in fruit, beef jerky and nuts. D.J. Jordan and Heath Snyder both earned top seller honors by selling more than $1,700 each in products and Mrs. Johnston’s fourth period leadership class earned the top class honors.

Fruit will arrive for delivery during the week of Dec. 7.

Rease Tatman, a sophomore member, held a kiss the turkey contest to raise money to donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.

Students got the chance to “elect” one of their teachers to kiss the turkey by placing money in that teacher’s jar. Even though it was a close race, Mr. Clark won the “prize” of kissing the turkey by having $27.18 in his jar.

The total amount raised through the activity was $55.

WELLINGTON, Ohio — Amanda Squire of the Wellington FFA received the American FFA Degree at the 82nd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis Oct. 24.

It is the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization and recognizes Squire’s demonstrated leadership abilities and outstanding achievements in agricultural business, production, processing and service programs.

Squire the daughter of Kevin and Mary Squire and attends North Central.

Her agricultural education instructor and FFA adviser is Shannon Thome.

As a four-year member of the Wellington FFA chapter, Squire participated in many different career development events including Parliamentary Procedure and Soil Judging.

She served as the chapter’s president and chaired many community service events for the FFA such as the chapter’s Food For America program.
