Think About it: Senior adults

SENIOR ADULTS

We hear much today about senior citizens. Senior citizens are people who have reached an age in their lives that are now looked upon as older adults or as elderly people. “Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father I Tim 5:1.”

I remember when I was a teenager I used to think people who were in their forties were old people. I changed my mind when I turned 35 years of age. Then I looked at people who were in their fifties as old people.

As time went on I changed my mind a few more times and then I decided I had better forget about it and just enjoy life without making age a factor. There are many benefits in becoming a senior adult such as retirement and much more.

I for one greatly appreciate my social security, Medicare and also my discount on a fresh cup of hot coffee. I have learned I can keep my expenses down by just letting my hair get gray and not trying to keep it its original color.

I can also accept the fact that I cannot keep up with young people any longer when we walk together. They are usually ahead of me and want to reach their destination faster than I can make mine.

I find I am paying closer attention to walking on ice and driving my car under the speed limit. I do everything I can to avoid added expenses and dangers.

“He who would pass his declining years with honor and comfort should when young, consider that he may one day become old, and remember when he is old that he has once been young” Joseph Addison. “Grow old along with me!

The best is yet to be, the last of life, for which the first was made. Our times are in His hand, who saith: “A whole I planned. Youth shows but half; trust God; see all, nor Be afraid.”

—Robert Browning

My friend, enjoy your life, be happy, serve God with all your heart, love one another, it is later than you think.
