State fair searches for high school marching bands

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Fair is looking for Ohio high school marching bands to participate in the daily parade during the 150th Ohio State Fair, which runs Aug. 1-17 in 2003.

Featured acts. The parade will feature the All-Ohio State Fair Band and All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir, floats, clowns and other fair entertainers, as well as participating high school bands from around the state.

The parade will begin at 4:15 p.m. each day Aug. 1-16 (there is no parade the last day, Aug. 17). The parade will start at the south end of the grounds near the National Resources Park and will continue north through the center of the grounds concluding just north of 17th Avenue.

Participating bands will receive tickets to the fair, parking, announced recognition and the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of fairgoers from across the state.

Call for details. Interested high school bands may contact Brett Chance, parade coordinator, at 888-OHO-EXPO or write to the Entertainment Department, Ohio State Fair, 717 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, OH 43211 in order to obtain an application form or additional information regarding the parade.

Deadline for applications is July 1.
