Steve Wilden submitted the item. He said the family who bought his grandparents’ farm in 1974 (and still own the farm) recently found this tool in a shed there. He said it could have been there prior to 1974 and possibly made of brass.

1222 looks like one end of a small rope making tool
I have one and not sure if you make rope with it or not.

We believe Item 1221 is a firewood bundle/log handle. Much like a chain wrench, it cinches up around bundles/logs of various sizes. The bit with the holes in it is for gripping with one or two hands, or even securing a rope/chain to for hauling with mule or horse.
