GO FLY A KITE! After you build it, that is! Join in on the fun at this family-friendly festival set to take place at pavilion #9 in Waterworth Memorial Park in Salem, Ohio on Saturday, September 10, 2016 beginning at noon. Salem Parks and Recreation Department and Salem Public Library will host this festival that is another program in the “Go Wild in the Park” series and will feature representatives from Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites (OSEK). Instruction in kite building will be provided by avid kite enthusiasts Cheryl and Tom Kear of Poland, Ohio.

Kite building kits will be provided one per participant and registration is required online at www.salem.lib.oh.us (or call the library at 330-332-0042 for assistance/questions) or call Shane Franks at the Salem Memorial Building, 330-332-5512. This program is free of cost to attend and open to the public. Attendees may also bring their own kites. Kite flying is, of course, greatly encouraged!

How will plans change if it rains? If it rains, we will all get wet and talk to each other until the rain stops, then fly kites!

Cheryl Kear is a national and world champion kite maker and kite flyer. Cheryl and Tom have participated in many kite festivals including several hosted by Mill Creek Metroparks.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about and have fun flying kites!
