Salem Public Library Program to Focus on Safer Products for the Home
The program “Greener Products for the Home” will be presented by David Foulkes, Sustainability Specialist from the Ohio EPA – Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention, on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the library’s Quaker Meeting Room.

When looking for greener, safer and more efficient products for the home, there are many options and resources available to assist consumers in making the best purchasing decisions. Whether you are looking for a green cleaner, water and energy efficient appliances and hardware, using a third-party certification can help take some of the guesswork out of your decisions. A third-party certification is a voluntary label given to products and services that meet certain environmental standards. This session will discuss and provide information about how consumers can access and use some of these third-party certification programs to make informed purchasing decisions.

About the program presenter: Mr. Foulkes has been with Ohio EPA’s Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention 18 years. His duties have included providing sustainable business and pollution prevention technical assistance to Ohio manufacturers, businesses and others, managing office publications and integrating pollution prevention and sustainability throughout Ohio EPA programs. Mr. Foulkes received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science from The Ohio State University in 1997.

You are encouraged to attend this informative fall installment in the library’s “Fix It Wizard” series which provides information and instruction about a variety of topics related to home maintenance. Registration is required to attend and may be done online at www.salem.lib.oh.us, by calling the library at 330-332-0042 for registration assistance, or by stopping in the library at 821 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460.
