The Columbiana County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting an informative forestry field day on Saturday May 20th, 2017. The event will be held on Steubenville Pike Road, 1.5 miles south of Lisbon. Approximate address is 9965 Steubenville Pike Road, Lisbon, Ohio 44432. GPS Coordinates: 40.756589, -80.769704. This event will focus on the do’s and don’ts of conducting a timber sale. We will discuss proper forest management leading up to the timber sale, timber sale contracts and proper closing of a timber sale. The timber on this site will already be marked for an upcoming timber sale and this will allow us to discuss what trees are marked and why. As we walk through the future harvest site we will also discuss, invasive species, best management practices, laws and regulations. The speakers will include ODNR Division of Forestry Service Forester Daniel Bartlett, as well as professional certified consulting foresters. The event will take place from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with registration from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. This event is open to the public, but registration is required.
