Fill your ears with glorious sounds of traditional music from the British Isles as versatile musician John Whitacre entertains at Salem Public Library’s May 21, 2017 program, “A Little Live Music”. Mr. Whitacre’s repertoire of musical instruments includes violin, mandolin family instruments, mountain dulcimer, guitar, ukulele, autoharp, and banjo. He will perform from 2-3pm in the library’s Adult Reading Room. The performance is free of cost to attend and open to the public. No registration is required.
Mr. Whitacre began playing violin in the fifth grade, started guitar in the ninth grade and took the usual route of school orchestra plus classical music lessons. He played for four years in the Canton Youth Symphony and nine years in the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra. However, he has always been drawn to traditional music. His interest turned to Celtic music in 1989.
