CANTON, Ohio – Downtown Canton will come alive June 8 with the roaring sound of powerful engines and the sight of shining chrome and freshly-waxed paint for the Canton Classic Car Festival presented by KeyBank, the Canton Classic Car Museum and the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. Admission is free.

From 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Canton’s Central Plaza will be lined with some of the region’s hottest cars around, plus food and beverage, awards, family fun and live entertainment from Fat Spatz and the All-Nite Cats, The Soul Men Blues Brothers Impersonators and Naturally Blue.

County focus. The festival is one of five car rallies participating in this summer’s new Lincoln Highway Stark Cross County Cruise. Canton will partner with several other communities, including Minerva, East Canton, Massillon and Perry Township for this first cross-county event.

A unique dash plaque is being designed for this special occasion, incorporating separate pieces that can be obtained from each of the County Cruise sites.

Other festival locations include Kishman’s IGA in Minerva, Nicole’s Family Restaurant in East Canton, the Massillon Museum in downtown Massillon and George Waikem Ford in Perry. Each site will offer variety of entertainment, activities and food, plus a special appearance at each site by the 2002 Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival Queen and Court.

Registration. Car enthusiasts can register their vehicle at any one of the five events and receive the first part of the five-piece plaque, that when combined with the set, depicts a commemorative, interlocking graphic.

Registration costs $5 pre-show and $7 the day of the show. Cross County Cruise participants need only pay the initial registration fee once. Each additional plaque piece is available for just $2 at the remaining sites.

To register for the festival, contact Gary Pelger at the Canton Classic Car Museum at 330-455-8360. For more event information, contact Monna Scarlett at 330-458-2072, or e-mail monnas@cantonchamber.org.
