COSHOCTON, Ohio – Historic Roscoe Village will recreate the traditional crafts of the 1800s during the 23rd annual Heritage Craft and Olde Time Music Festival June 15 and 16.

The festival features music, traditional crafters, art exhibits, entertainment and children’s games and activities daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Weekend activities include a flat-picking guitar contest, 3 p.m. Saturday.

Along with a Royce Craft basket, finishers will receive: first place, $100; second place: $75; and third place, $50. The contest is open to all guitar players. There is no age limit and no entry fee. Contestants may play two songs with a six-minute time limit. Flat and thumb picks only. To register, call 800-877-1830.

Also on Saturday, a variety of workshops will be held. Starting at 11 a.m., there will be a hammered dulcimer workshop, fiddle workshop, clawhammer banjo workshop, and flat-pick guitar workshop.

At 2 p.m., there will be a mandolin workshop, Scruggs-style banjo workshop and an overcoming singing shyness workshop. Workshops are instructed on a beginner to intermediate level. All workshops cost $15 each.

Experienced blacksmiths will be conducting workshops daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. The blacksmith workshops are free and open to anyone over 12.

Traditional crafters demonstrating and selling throughout the weekend include: 1830s wool spinner, basket weaver, wood and decoy carvers, silversmith, violin builder, potter and more.

In conjunction with the Heritage Craft and Old Time Music Festival, The Coshocton Art Guild, Inc. and Fine Crafts will be sponsoring the Coshocton Art Guild Show and Sale.
