MILLERSBURG, Ohio — Four members of the West Holmes FFA, Cynthia Bunch, Victoria Carpenter, Derek Reutter and Kiersten Sigler, attended Ohio Leadership Camp.

Members attended four sessions teaching about leadership and problem solving.

On July 26, the West Holmes FFA officer team, Tyler Schonauer, Garrett O’Donnell, Victoria Carpenter, Cynthia Bunch, Kiersten Sigler, Jimmy Henry, Jared Zollars and Aaron Clark, headed to the high school to prepare for the annual officer retreat.

The next morning the officers and adviser met the other FFA members, Kyle Hanna, Eric Hanna, Bryant Straits, Dusty Freewalt, Brooke Landon, Chris Patterson, Marshall Overholt, and Casey Schlauch at Mohican Adventure Center to canoe or kayak.

On Aug. 3, members Tyler Schonauer, Victoria Carpenter, Cynthia Bunch, Kiersten Sigler, Garrett O’Donnell, Derek Reutter, Marshall Overholt, Casey Schlauch, Chris Patterson, Trevor Turner, Brandon Bowles, Brooke Landon, Travis Campbell, Elizabeth Overholt, Blake Bunch and Caleb Chaney all set out for the state fair.

The members broke into three shifts to work at the Ohio Poultry Association food booth in the Taste of Ohio Cafe.

WASHINGTON — Norwayne FFA members Andrea Gasser and Abby Winkler attended the 2009 Washington Leadership Conference July 21-15.

The week-long program helps FFA members improve their leadership skills and prepare for leadership roles in their chapters, communities and their future careers.

They attended sessions on developing authentic leadership, serving their communities and participating in civic engagements. They also participated in service learning events.

ASHLAND, Ohio — On July 28, the Mapleton FFA its annual officer in-service day. The work day was dedicated to making plans for the following school year and setting goals to improve the agricultural education program at Mapleton High School.

The officer team created a summer edition of the Corduroy Connection. The officers involved in the work day included Jared Wynn, Emily McKinley, Garrett Canfield, Shelby Rohr, Shelby Emmons, Katie Paramore, Kyle Wiley, Olivia Whitaker and Brittany Telakowicz.

The following two days the same group traveled to Columbus to donate their time to the Ohio Poultry Association at the Ohio State Fair. The officers helped make meals to sell to the people attending the fair to help the association financially.

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — Earlier this summer, three members of the Hillsdale FFA chapter attended the Washington Leadership Conference. The members who attended included: Mariah Gibbons, Stephanie Schuck and Michael Schuck.

The week-long program helps FFA members improve their leadership skills and prepare for leadership roles in their chapters, communities, and their future careers. They attended workshop sessions on current problems in our community, state, country and world and discussed ways they could help.

WEST SALEM, Ohio — The Northwestern FFA chapter send two students to the Washington Leadership Conference in Washington. The two students were Karly Berry, daughter of Stanley and Leslie Berry and Jessica Wellert, daughter of Kim and Sherri Wellert.

The members learned leadership skills that will help them in guiding their chapter this year and met other FFA students from Iowa, Wyoming, Minnesota, California, Montana, Oklahoma and Ohio.
