NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio – Schoenbrunn Village will host the Iron Chef-Northeast Region competition May 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In this statewide competition, contestants or teams of contestants must battle to win their regional trial to be able to compete in the final struggle, June 2 in Columbus.
What is it? Using a mystery ingredient, each team must cook an entree, a side dish and a dessert using cast iron cookware over a wood fire.
Visitors are able to watch the teams prepare and cook their foods, though without interruptions to the teams.
During the event, historic food and cooking methods discussions will take place for those watching the competitions. First and second-place winners at each of the three regional trials will advance to the final competition.
Registration, cost. Registration is required for cooking teams. Admission is $8 for adult nonmembers, $4 for children and $1 for member adults and children. There is a $50 entry fee for cooking teams.
Call 330-874-3011 or 800-262-6195 for information or to register.
